During the first week of the summer holidays, Year 6 students from 5 local primary schools were invited to take part in the ‘Grand Designs Challenge’ Summer School, designed and run as a collaboration between Archimedia, Architecture Centre, Bristol and The University of the First Age. The week was made up of a series of events and workshops led by Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Landscape Artists, Structural Engineers and a host of other professionals. The Archimedia Core Group worked as Peer Mentors with small groups of Year 6 students to create models of the new Knowle West Media Centre. In taking part, all the young people were successful in gaining a Youth Challenge Award, which was presented to them at the end of the week.
